The mission of CELLSCRIPT™ is to provide high quality products and technologies for making and using RNA for translation in cells for clinical research and therapeutics.
OUR COMPANY
CELLSCRIPT™, based in Madison, WI, is an innovative company dedicated to developing user-friendly, cutting-edge enzyme solutions for mRNA research. Founded in 2007 as part of EPICENTRE® Biotechnologies, CELLSCRIPT™ became an independent company after Illumina acquired EPICENTRE in 2011. Our products are designed to be simple, effective, and compatible with standard lab equipment, eliminating the need for costly, sophisticated instrumentation while addressing the latest scientific demands in mRNA studies and production.
Since becoming independent, CELLSCRIPT™ has consistently delivered reliable, high-quality reagents and RNA kits trusted by scientists in academic, governmental, biotech, and pharmaceutical organizations. As the RNA field continues to grow and evolve, we remain dedicated to introducing new products that meet the needs of scientists worldwide.
OUR TECHNOLOGY
CELLSCRIPT™ provides a broad range of products for mRNA synthesis from in vitro transcription to quality control assays. Current products include kits for in vitro transcription, RNA 5’-end capping using either capping enzymes or a cap analog, and RNA 3’-end polyadenylation, as well as all-in-one kits for making capped, poly(A)-tailed mRNA for translation in cells. Additional offerings include a novel kit for the removal of dsRNA from RNA preps and assays to easily analyze the quality of final mRNA products.
THE INCOGNITO™ ADVANTAGE
CELLSCRIPT™ introduced the INCOGNITO™ line of mRNA & RNA production kits containing modified nucleosides, such as N1-methyl-pseudouridine (N1meΨ) and pseudouridine (Ψ) in place of the corresponding U canonical nucleoside (Figure 1). INCOGNITO™ capped, polyadenylated and modified nucleoside-containing mRNAs greatly reduce any induced innate immune response, compared to the corresponding unmodified mRNAs, when transfected into mammalian cells that express a variety of RNA pattern recognition sensors.

The INCOGNITO™ line of RNA kits is based upon the Nobel prize-winning discoveries of Drs. Katalin Karikó and Drew Weissman at the University of Pennsylvania and exclusively licensed to CELLSCRIPT™ for all fields of use. Drs. Karikó and Weissman showed that modified nucleoside-containing mRNA, besides being less immunogenic, is translated into protein at much higher levels than the corresponding mRNA that does not contain modified nucleosides, both in cultured cells and in whole organisms.
CELLSCRIPT™’s INCOGNITO™ line of products has been optimized for high-yield synthesis of modified nucleoside-containing complete mRNA and IVT RNA. All kits come with a label license for internal research use under the University of Pennsylvania’s modified mRNA technologies patents.
